descriptionen | Lectionary 1602 is a bilingual Greek-Coptic manuscript, dated to the 8th century. Its incomplete text (88 folios) is currently preserved in several places, but the main part (82 leaves) is located in the Morgan Library and Museum, New York. In folios 2r – 4r, we can see the three endings of Mark 16 separated by ornamented scribal comments. In folio 3r, the scribe introduces the shorter ending (conclusion brevior) with a comment that says: “in other manuscripts, this is not written.” In the same folio, the scribe introduces the long ending, saying: “[lacuna] this is then included.” Mina Monier, SNSF MARK16 @ CC BY 4.0 |
